Wild gypsy brass from the Romanian suburbs comes to America!
The NY Gypsy Festival is proud to be presenting the US and Canada dates of one of Romania's favorite Gypsy bands, Mahala Rai Banda. The wild, twelve-member Roma band Mahala Rai Banda comprises the creme de la creme of musicians from the famed Clejani and Zece Prajini Romanian villages, home of Taraf de Haidouks and Fanfare Ciocarlia respectively. Combining power and finesse, groove and virtuosity, Mahala's music is sonically located where Balkan brass meets sizzling strings for up-tempo, catchy melodies propelled along by funky brass riffs, accordion and cimbalom.
The North American dates of Mahala Rai Banda are presented with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in NY.
